Witches Weekly.

This sounds like fun! So sorry for nicking your "idea", M x)

What does the Samhain/Celtic New Year/All Hallows Eve mean to you?
It's a part of the yearly cycle, and I can feel it everywhere I go. It grows darker outside, the days aren't as long as they were only a month or two ago, and the warmth has left the country. It's the darkest time of the year, because there is no snow to light up the surroundings. Samhain to me is the time to say goodbye to all the loveliness of the summer, but knowing that we will meet again next year. It's the time to meditate on what has passed the last year, and to remember the loved ones who aren't physically with us any longer. And, to enjoy all the bounty of the season :)

Do you do anything special to celebrate or commemorate this sabbat?
I invite good friends over and make them a real feast with everything nature has to offer (almost). To me the preparations for this meal, which has courses I never eat the rest of the year, is something special. I also fill the house with candles and the leaves that I pick a week or two in advance will be hung in my windows.

What does the coming Winter mean to you in terms of spirituality?
Norway has all the seasonal changes. Winter equals months of coldness and barren surroundings. Nature goes to sleep, so to speak, and the days are often only a few hours long. I don't live so far north that the sun disappears totally, but I don't see much of it from mid November till February. Yule is a big thing for me. It's a hope and light where there is none, and I feel equally relieved every year when the days start growing longer again. Even though it's only a matter of minutes the first weeks, I sense it and cherish it. There isn't much else for me to be happy about during winter. The cold, the colourless surroundings... everything seems so.. dead. But yule tells me it'll all turn around, there will be warmth and flowers and nummy fruits and... yes. So yule is important to me :)

Pumpkins!

Doing my preparations for my Samhain/Halloween gathering tomorrow. My love isn't all that crazy about pumpkins (but I am! They're tooo too adorable!), so I decided to decorate one in a fashion he would enjoy.

It's an atempt at The Fellowship from "The Fellowship of the Ring"-movie. :D

Foggy photos.

I'm lazy, I know. It's been a long time since my last entry. Not that I believe many people to actually read this anyway, but... yah.

There was an eerie fog out yesterday. I don't like fog, it creeps me out. But I took a photo of it:

This is what that street looks like in ordinary light:

Entertainment on a Sunday morning.

Thought I'd smack up a couple of links for things to occupy oneself with on Sunday mornings.

The Llama Song -Warning! If you easily get annoying songs stuck in your head, click this link with caution. Or not. It's hysterically funny nontheless!

Bathtime in Clerkwell -Funny animated music video. About birds who decide to take over the world.

Extreme zoom -This is just brilliant! It's a picture you can zoom into in eternity, it reveals a new image over and over. (It does eventually loop, but that's only after a while). Simply a great and impressing piece of work.

Is Bush wired? -Ok, maybe not so funny, but interesting.

And M16s for all! -Makes you think, doesn't it?

That's all for now, folks :)

Baby photos!

I promised some piggie photos weeks ago, about time I post some. :)
Please forgive the lousy quality, I don't have a digital camera and have to settle with my cell phone for immedate photos.

This is the whole gang. They're all girls, and like all babies, they're totally wild.

This is Stitch. She's the only smooth-furred girl of the bunch, the rest of them (like Tresko who's butt you can see here in front) are all crested.

This is Tresko. She's a regular furball! And has very wacky ears.

Batman in the back (yah, the name BatMAN for a girl doesn't fit, but let me just say I didn't name her!) and Pinky. Pinky's an albino and is almost impossible to get a shot of with her eyes open.

Single photo of Batman.

The only shot of Pinky I have with her eyes opened. This must have been some time ago, 'cause she's bigger now. They all are, it's crazy how fast they grow!

There. That's the new family members. I'm not sure if we can keep any of them yet, and certainly not all, but I know it will be hard to part from any of them, adorable little furballs as they are.

Green things called plants.

I am a murderer. Of plants that is. I love having those pretty green things around, but I can't seem to keep them alive. Having to remember giving them water is simply too hard a task for me! Which I also tell all of my friends and relatives. Never the less I got FIVE plants as housewarming gifts! Ow! So now I have to keep six plants alive. A wacky aloe I already had (and amazingly kept alive for the last year, probably because it was an only child), that doesn't require much but a little water every now and then. A large leafy thing my love's mother got us (I love it, it's so purty!), but she was merciful enough to ask for a plant that required little water and sunlight in the plant shop (probably a consequence of my warnings). OK, so far, so good. Then my "sister in law" (not for real, since neither of us are married) brought an aloe vera last time she was here, and I'm worried 'cause I've already managed to kill one of those in my earlier green career. And my mum brought two striped leafy thingies that were babies of her own striped leafy thing, which need water all the time! Help! And my sweet girlfriend gang that got us a Coffee plant, a really beautiful green coffee-smelling thing that requirers water at least once a week! Ahh... No use in asking my love to water them either, 'cause he drowns plants.
But maybe they'll all survive if I try really hard. After all they're such pretty things and I don't want to be a plant murderer.
Point of this entry? Well, I remembered to water them all today!
Ps: I also try to keep some herb plants in my kitchen. Basils are evil, they die the moment you get home from the store!

Thunderstorm!

Woke up around 4 a.m last night, by loud thunder. Lay awake and watched countless flashes light up our bedroom, followed by crashes. Crept up to my man, and woke him up. Right in time for a five minute break in the flashes, so of course he thought I was imagining things. Got up, went to the bathroom, and when I got back out, he was in the livingroom, unplugging all the electrical appliances. OK, so we jump back into bed, I lay awake for a while, but somehow fell asleep. Kept waking up every half an hour or so, because of more thundernoise, and it kept going for hours. So much for a night's sleep. And, if that wasn't enough, I get up around nine-ish, make myself some breakfast and turn on the computer so that I can finish my two assignments. Yeah right, don't you think the frikkin' thunder started again? Yes. Arrrrgh!
But it seems fine now. I mean, there should be a limit to how long such things can keep it going.

I overheard a scary conversation on the bus the other day...

Two teens talking about STDs, and one claiming that there was an ointment one could use that prevented HIV. WTF? Not only is it plain stupid, but could be potentially lethal to these... idiots. Yikes!
