Uhm... I really don't like making up titles, ok?
I had some much needed social stimulance yesterday. Some friends invited us over for a BBQ, and with the weather being so lovely and all, it was a very welcome offer. OK, just to explain one thing first. It's NOT summer here yet. Not even very spring-like. It's still cold. But when the sun is out, one can live with it being cold. For the moment. And as the insane, loony vikings we are (well, I'm just half a viking, that's why I'm always freezing in this stupid country! bah!), we start BBQ'ing as soon as the snow has melted away. I think it's genetic or something.
Anyway, it was nice. I needed to get out a little.
My problem is that school is only one and a half day a week, the rest of the time I stay home and study alone. And that makes it hard meeting new people. Oh, and norwegians in general are hard to make friends with, we're all so up-tight you have no idea!
So in the soon-to-be-two-years I've lived here, I've only made a couple of friends, mostly through my Love. That is no way by far enough to give me the social stimulance I need. Heck, you need to talk to people to not go completely fruitcake! My Love has no problems with this, he's at work every day and gets to talk to people all the time, but I? Seldom. If I had a job it would help immensely, but the job market here is slooooow and there really isn't anything available at the moment. Bah... I don't think you can really understand how this is unless you've felt it yourself. Love is understanding and supporting, but I don't think he really gets it. Sometimes I feel like I'm just complaining about stuff, but this really is a problem and the only way to solve it for me is to get out more. But where? With whom? *sigh*
Poor Love, he's doing all he can. And feels guilty for "dragging me down here". But he didn't drag me! I wanted to live here! I completely and absolutely adore this town.
I'm sure things will get better eventually. I just have to stick it out. And besides, the BBQ season is already started *LOL*
