Computer problems...
It's no secret that my computer is terribly outdated and slow beyond belief. But that it zonks out and doesn't want to start again, that's new.
A friend of mine wanted to show me something over MSN and wanted a video conference for it. So I bend down to pull my computer out so that I can hook in my microphone. *ZONK*
Black screen. WTF? Did I rip out any cables? No... And both the keyboard and USB webcam still have power, so the evil computer isn't completely dead. It just won't start, that's all.
Pretty pissed, and terrified of the prospect of being computerless as the computer is the only way I can stand the days when I'm not at school, I went to bed. But slept badly... Woke up at 6 a.m and decided to give the computer another try. It starts like nothing happened!
Went back to bed, relieved and called computer-doc dad later when I woke up again. He told me to open the evil thing and make sure every cable was properly connected. And vacuum some of the dust out. So I did. And I haven't had any problems since (although that was yesterday, so it can still be problems for all I know).
BUT by opening the thing, we (Love and I) found out what kind of RAM I need (SD ram?), and Love could get me another 128 mb piece. We'll install it later today, and hopefully that will make my computer a little less sloooow. It needs 10 full minutes simply to get started, dammit! 128 mb RAM is too little to run XP on, as XP requires all that for itself, the greedy bastard OP system!
