Wow, she writes!
One would think, having both thursday and friday off that I would manage to squeeze in an entry, but noo.
OK, thursday is understandable. We decided to pay my mum a visit, since dad and sis (together with grandma who lives down the street from them and is very attention-needy) are visiting some distant relations. As in seriously distant relations (they live one days drive away from my parents). Not that I know any of them. They all seem like rabbits to me, too many to keep track of.
Anyway, mum was thrilled that we were coming. And although we didn't do much, just sit around on the porch munching on strawberries and cherries, it was worth driving all the way.
But it seems as we've been hit by a heat wave. Since thursday the shadow temperature has been around 30-34 C. And very humid on top of that! Whoa...
So, my plan for friday didn't work out the way I wanted it to. I really just wanted to bring my book and lay on some beach all day. It was too hot! We did the neccessary shopping and such, and fled back to the cave which is our apartment (it's halfway down in the ground, a basement apartment, but with large windows). It's, fortunately for us, chilled in the summer and usually, unless extreme cold outside, warm in the winter. So right now, I'm really loving the apartment. Even with the ants in it (hey, squashing them isn't that hard).
This weekend is all about work. Yesterday (saturday) and today. Yesterday was a quiet day at the gas station, which suited me well, it turned out. My tummy decided to revolt because of the heat! Yay... What to do when you're at work and should be chained to a toilet? Call Love and plea for pills... I always keep pain killers in my purse, but I think I'll start keeping Imodium there as well.
That's another thing: my purse is my survival kit. Tissues, pain killers, tampons, chapstick, box of lotion for sore hands, you name it! Never leave home without it.
Anyway, not looking forward to working today. Sundays are the busiest day of the week. Because we have a small selection of groceries, half of the town suddenly realises they need something on Sundays. Hey people? Normal, non-hell-expensive grocery stores keep open six days a week. Some of them even until eleven at night on saturdays (ask me and I'll tell you which one). One would think it was possible to do the shopping during those six days, huh?
It still puzzles me... why would anyone pay twice the amount for ordinary food? Bah... stupid people.
And another thing, today they air the last episode of Gilmore Girls for the season. And I'm not home! *hysteric fit of crying*
OK, so it's not that big of a crisis. Simon lent us his VCR (we don't have one) and Love will tape it for me. Oh, and I was very sneaky, I didn't tell Simon why I needed it. 'Cause he would never lend us it for something as silly as that, I'm sure. (Uh-oh... Suddenly realized something... Love and technical things? It'll be very exciting to see if he actually manages to tape it! *crossing fingers*)
Silly Kjersti fact #1: she'll crave gingerbread cookies in July and sniff out some from the most amazing places.
(Visiting mum on thursday, I discovered a whole box of the cookies I bakes for Yule. Almost un-touched. Besides being terribly insulted, I discovered that they tasted just as yummy and kidnapped the whole box. Funny, 'cause I had been craving those things for a week or so *lol*)
Silly Kjersti fact #2: She's nicked her dad's Haynes instruction manual on 83 - 89 Ford Fiesta's and actually believes she can manage some of the repairs that Pea need.
(Dad refused to give me the book when we picked up Pea. Claimed he still needed it. For what car? Mum's brand new Ford Ka? Or his old Nissan? Nuh-uh!
Anyway, since he wasn't there, mum said I could just take it which I did. I don't understand a word of it though...)
