Mum's birthday and redecorating our mess.

Mum turns 50 tomorrow (I tell her it's not that bad, 'cause if you add up 5 and 0, you only get 5). But we celebrated it this weekend, 'cause I mean... mondays? What idiot came up with the concept of having birthdays on mondays? It just doesn't work. For anyone.
Anyway, suspecting that my dad wouldn't know how to, I offered to bring the cake.



It's marzipan with cherry and chocolate filling. Not so bad, it turned out. Pheeew!
I also made a pumpkin pie, something I should have done last weekend, but had no time.
And the pumpkin?



I carved out a portrait of my mum from an old photo. And oddly enough, even though I brought cake (mum's the original Cookie from Sesame Street, I swear! Although a very tiny Cookie), this was what she was all crazed about. OK, so carving pumpkins like this isn't that big here in Norway, people just cut out two eyes, a nose and a mouth and that's it.
But I think she appreciated it. Both the pumpkin and the cake.

Other news: Love and I redecorated today. Our dining room wasn't working out the way it was basically because of a corny room design and... we tried something different. We switched the "library" and the dining room. Still not perfect, because both those rooms are a bit stupidly designed, but at least now we can light up the fireplace without worrying it will damage our gorgeous table that was placed right in front of it (the only place it could go in the "old" dining room). So now I can sit in our "new" library, fireplace lit and read while drinking a hot cocoa this winter. Mmmmm....
Only problem now is we need more light. So I sense a trip to IKEA coming up soon. We should get a small coffee table for the "new" library also, to have some place to put down my cocoa. *lol*
