Wrapping up the family tour.

My lack of updates is due to the big family tour. Sorry about that. We just wrapped it up yesterday and today is my first relax-and-actually-enjoy-the-holidays day.

The day before Christmas: Sis' birthday. Which meant we drove up there around 12ish, after first panicking through the mall after something to wear for me for Christmas Eve. Watched National Lampoon's Christmas vacation, laughed at "the shitter was full!" and went to bed.

Christmas eve: Couldn't sleep well due to crappy guest bed and Love twisting and turning all night (Night before Christmas means poor Love can't sleep at all). Woke up, shuffled into sis' room and watched cartoons with her until the rest of the people woke up. And during the night, the Grinch has possessed my dad. First he was annoyed because his stocking had diabetes-friendly candy in it, which I got him just to be nice, but nooo... Then he snapped at everyone who made any noise at all. Including the dog. This continued all day up until the big Christmas dinner where he was happy as a clam and wondering why everyone else were wearing such sour faces. Seriously, if you have a hangover, just stay away from us! Why ruin the whole day for everyone else? It's inconsiderate and it's not our frikkin problem that you feel like you need to bottle down all the Christmas ale. Gramps, who arrived just before dinner, yelled at US for being cranky and had of course not witnessed the events leading up to it. And she was in general not very friendly. For instance giving me a lecture about me not being a real adult until I would have aquavit. Hey gramps? I'm adult enough to know that just because it's tradition, doesn't mean I have to like it. Same goes with the disgusting sour cabbage stuff that only you eat anyway. Just because you like it, doesn't mean I have to. And another clue, none of the five other people at the table ate it either.
Well, that sort of put a damper on my spirit, so when we shortly after dinner got in the car to drive to Love's parents, I was sort of happy.
One hour later we arrived just in time for the unwrapping of gifts. And I found out the dress I bought the day before was a tad bit naughty. When sitting upright it was OK, but sitting in InLaw's sofa, my boobs almost fell out. Which was a source of much laughter.
My gift for Love this year was a Nintendo DS. He's been talking about those for ages, and I figured since I can't afford getting my lisence now anyway, why not spoil him a little. He's always gotten me expensive gifts and I've never had the means to do the same, so... Yes. He was happy though. :)
To sum it up, the whole day was awkward. It was my first Christmas not entirely spent with the family and it felt weird. Mum was adorable as usual, but I really can't stand dad's behaviour. He only sees himself and makes everyone elses' day awful. But I guess it's a typical holiday issue. There is one in every family who's creating havoc and making sure that everyone else isn't enjoying themselves too much.

Christmas day: Loads of people (all of Love's immediate family) and loads of food. Another crappy guestbed at InLaws that made my back ache. Yay.'

December 26th: More food. Turkey this time, at Love's brother's house. Got some sour glares when I declined Love's sister's invitation for full dinner at her place the next day. But geez, four days of humongous dinners? Sorry, but I'm all full. And another thing, everyone were thinking the same, but noone dared saying anything about it. I mean, it's complete madness, and one could do with a days break. That's what other families do.

December 27th: Outran old ladies and large ladies at Lidl to get my hands on a dirt cheap sowing machine. Yay! Then we visited my family, and drove home. Got home around five, collapsed in front of the TV and didn't even bother making dinner. Simon came over to hand over my house keys which he had had so that he could feed the piggies while we were gone, but somehow I still haven't gotten them back. Love and Simon went to buy kebabs when "Desperate Housewives" was on, and got me one also. My first kebab! *lol*

*sigh*
That was my Christmas this year. Next year I'll be stricter and make sure it doesn't get to be this much. 'Cause it really is too much. The weeks leading up to Christmas is also so damn hectic, when's the time to relax?

But what did Santa bring us?
Love got his beloved DS plus two games, a razor thingy, Civilization 4, Ivo Caprino DVD box set, Creature Comforts dvd and some decorative stuff.
I got (from love) my Piggley Wink, Sims 2, SingStar 80's game, Cinderella DVD, (from the rest of the family) stone plate raclette, Sims 2 Holiday expansion, Gilmore Girls season 1 (love you Mum!!), Cheer Bear Care Bear and some towels.
