What a beautiful day!

Today was brilliant! Not a cloud in the sky and 12 degrees celsius outside (approx. 53 F).
I went for a walk into town to get some essentials (mushroom and avocado! *lol*) instead of taking the bus, and I had to take off my jacket! When I got back, Simon showed up to have a look at Pea, and we drove all across the island, testing it. That was another thing that made my day, Pea is not in such bad shape after all! She needs new brakes in front and another minor thing I didn't get anything of. And a little rust of course, but that is pretty darn obvious even to someone like me, hah! But that's it. Simon also has some scary plans on how to make Pea look more... original. It involves flames and rally wheels and icky hubcaps (sp?). OK, so she's not a beauty, that I can agree with, but I want to keep her red. I'll allow small flames though.. hahaaa.

Seriously, sunshine is such a morale booster for me now after the long, cold winter. It was sooo lovely to spend so much time outdoors today and not to mention, having ice cream outdoors. Yum!

Cake, candy and Beetle.

My parents, grandma and sister came to visit today, to celebrate my birthday. They were unable to come last weekend because mum had night shifts, so they decided to keep me company today instead.
We had lots of cake and candy! I had already bought too much at Lidl, so of course I had easter eggs for everyone. And mum brought lots of candy too, in case I didn't have any for easter. Duh... So now I have enough candy for a year, at least!
She had also bought two Tolkien books for me for my birthday, which was very sweet of her. But actually, the thing that she brought that really made me skip with joy, was... My old Beetle radio car! My dad bought it for me when I was a toddler, and managed to wreck it before I ever had the chance to try it. And didn't fix it either... That's probably the biggest disappointment of my childhood, seeing that cool yellow beetle do all kinds of cool tricks and not be able to try them myself. But now I have it here with me. It's still cool-looking! Even if it never works again, it's cool. But Simon, the car crazed friend, says he'll try and fix it. That would be amazing if we could get it to work again! :D
Ooh and I found almost the same Beetle online. Look here! Mine's an early 80's version, with a tad bit smaller wheels and not so large a cow-catcher (that's what that thingy in the front is called here, I have no idea what you call it.)

OK, now comes the issue boys/girls.

There's a few things I've come to realise by having both male and female friends. As in having male and female friends looking for a girlfriend/boyfriend.
Both genders complain about how cruel and annoying the other gender is! And both seem to be equally desperate about getting some. My girlfriends all go "they don't notice me, they don't pay any attention, they don't take any hints". And the guys go "all girls want bad boys, I try to be nice and see her run off with a real jerk right in front of me."
What is the problem? Good question, really. It it too high expectations? The want for the perfect partner? Saying stuff like "I'm desperate, I'll take anything with tits." and then proceeding to get a number from a not so pretty girl and saying "Well, I won't be calling her anyway." Huh? What do you really want? And my girlfriends listing several demands, almost making up a male clone of themselves. That's not very probable, is it?
And I've tried explaining the consept of pretty girls/guys. If they look like they spend a lot of time keeping their appearance perfect (working out, make up, clothes), chances are they are equally picky about whom they date. This seems to be a hard one to swallow for my ordinary, nerdy male friends. There's nothing wrong with them, but I suspect they get a little too hung up on tits when having had a few beers.
My female friends don't even try hitting on the "pretty guys", they just complain about not being noticed. I dunno which one I find more annoying, really.

But is there a sollution?
Setting up my friends perhaps? Nah... They'd chop my head off! And being taken, and trying to give advice on flirting is fruitless. "What do you know about dating and flirting, you have a boyfriend!" *shakes head* Any suggestions on what to tell them?

Ms Sqeaky and the issue boys/girls.

Hello, my name is Ms Sqeaky... or, it might as well be Ms Sqeaky. For the third day in a row now I'm still honking like a frikkin goose. Or, as my love said, honking like a horn from an old T-ford. And it's not funny any more! I'm a very talkative person, bordering on babbling. I can't shut up! Or, I can, but I don't enjoy it. And not to mention, it's impossible to sing! That's the worst part, 'cause I always sing to keep me company when I study alone at home. *meep*
And, going out for the monday quiz today. Suspect I will be mocked for my honky voice yet another evening... *sniffles* Maybe I need to bring my parrot on a stick so that I can whack those who try to be sarcastic.

Onto my second topic. Boys and girls. Or... I think I will put that in another entry, just for the logic. I'm finally posting this, two days after creating the draft, so perhaps dividing it will be a good idea.

(Oh, and the quiz? Didn't go too well... bah. But that's nothing new! Hahaha...)

Huh? This can't be serious!

This has to be a joke. No one can be THAT stupid!
Is your son a computer hacker?
Yikes...
Although it made for a real entertaining read. And since I don't have much of a voice today, my laughter sounds quite maniacal, which just made me laugh even more. Love even asked if I had been drinking! No. Not even coffee. But suspect self still on a coffee high. *lol*

Oh, and I've slept a little... as in an hour and a half. Yay!

Funny

No, I'm still not in bed.
But found this.
If it works, you're in for a treat. From the norwegian idol auditions.

Edit: Oh, but there were more!
This one is actually kinda cute. Donald Duck singing "She's so high"

And a loco dude singing the french version of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles theme. In a cow suit. Complete with udders.

This girl has got to be the lousiest singer I've ever heard. I feel evil for saying it, but just have a look and you'll get what I mean.

Birthday and such...

I'm apologizing in advance if this entry is a little weird/chaotic/insane, but I've almost been up for 24 hours straight. Why? I'll get to that.

Friday. I had some friends over to celebrate my birthday. Had dinner and cake afterwards. All very cosy and I had a wonderful time. Got a pretty vase for more flowers and a whole box full of kinder surprise eggs (yay!).

Saturday. My actual birthday. Couldn't sleep that well, because of my throat (still have a cold), woke up without a voice at all. Love made me a hot cup of café chocolate and brought me cough syrup in bed. Sweet, huh? Got my voice back, spent most of the morning on the phone with different relatives. Got money from my grandma and cute rubber stamps :D
Went shopping for beads (didn't find any nice ones) and neccessary stuff. Got home, started moping... The whole morning had just been so... dull, it was very depressing. Riddiculous, of course, but I felt really lonely. For no apparent reason other than that no one from my family or older friends from where I lived before I moved had the time to visit me. Bah, oh well...
Love was frustrated with me being so down, so he invited Simon over for a game of Munchkin, and Simon brought a friend with him. From this point on, it got considerably better. Munchkin was very entertaining, as always, although the guys didn't cut me any slack even though it was my birthday. We went easy on the new guy, as he had some troubles grasping the rules (there was beer involved, so I don't blame him). We could have easily walked all over him, but didn't. Instead we used all the dirty tricks on each other. Which is why this game is so much fun in the first place!
Around midnight we hit the town. There's a rock pub in town that plays fairly decent music and has cool posters on the walls. We stayed there most of the night. I had three coffees with baileys, wanting to celebrate my birthday. What I didn't care to think about, was that I haven't been able to drink coffee for the last three months without having my stomach turn sour on me. But I got on fine until I got home and tried to go to bed. That was... Four and a half hours ago. I'm still up. Not going into details about that I've been doing the whole time, except say one thing, most of those hours were spent in the loo. And another thing that I failed to remember is my sensitivity to caffein. A cup of coffee at around four in the afternoon is enough to keep me awake at night. Now I've had three cups, all after midnight. No wonder I'm still up. With a stomach that's really pissed at me. So, trying to come up with things to do to keep my mind occupied... Hence this entry. I should really try to get to bed, but.. ick.. It's already completely bright outside! And has been for over an hour now. Aye me...

Wow...

A quarter of American adults who have cell phones have used the devices' text-messaging features within the past month, a new study finds.
Read article at CNN here.
Wow... I'm sorry, but.. huh? I think I wrote my first SMS in 9th grade. That's some years ago now.
Don't ask me how many. Seven years or so.
Oh, and if you didn't know it (quote from article):
Text messaging allows cell phone users to receive and send short messages to other cell phone users or e-mail recipients.

Oinkers

I've decided to keep a humouristical blog for my piggies as well, so that most of the piggie-related stuff will be put in there instead of here. You can find it here.
I've just used a blogger template for now, as I don't have the time to make a page of my own just yet.

Piggie paradise!

The coroplast was delivered today. Spent all day putting the cage together, screwed up a couple of times and didn't finish until late... as in an hour ago. Would have finished a little earlier if Lost hadn't been on, but hey, no problem.
The cage is... huge! And the piggies seem more scared than delighted at the moment. And no chance of any of them going near the ramp.
I guess they need a little time to adjust.
I will take some photos, hopefully, this weekend, if we can borrow the camera from Love's work again. I took some with my cell phone, but they're crappy and my USB bluetooth thingy won't work on my computer any more, so I can't transfer them either.
Anyway, very tired now and going to bed. But I think I'll go watch the piggies a little first. :)

Ooh! I forgot!

I bought tulips today. Forgot to mention it. They were in the sales-bucket, and I felt so sorry for them. The bouquet was bent like a banana, probably why it was in the sales-bucket, literally given away, but I had to save them. So now there's flowers on my table again. Puurty!

Ow...

Bah... I'm sick. It seems like it's the thing to be nowadays, so why shouldn't I be also?
Anyway, woke up with a seriously hurting throat, and have barely been able to speak all day. Something which certain people would take as a blessing I guess. I was even told to speak up in class, and I've never heard that before. I have no problem, usually, speaking loud enough for everyone to hear. And when I didn't today, everyone worried about me. OK, so I think I had a touch of fever also, and shouldn't have gone in the first place, but the oral exam is coming up soon and I can't miss a lecture before that. So... I probably shared all my bugs with everyone in my class. And just barely an audible voice, meant no heavy discussions. Aw poo... boring!

I came up with a theme for the home exam assignment thingy I've been so stressed out about. There's this book, "Mengele Zoo" by the norwegian author Gert Nygårdshaug that deals with terrorism in a slightly different way. It's terrorism seen from the side of the terrorist. And without judgement. Basically, it's about a man who tries to save the planet from extinction by killing the people who are responsible for the destruction. It's different, it's provocative and very fascinating in a not-that-I-would-ever-support-this-but-I-do-understand-why-someone-could-do-this kind of way.
So I will be writing my assignment on the terrorism-issue in this book, how it's portrayed, how the author manages to make the reader sympatize with the killer and yah... along those lines.
It could get interesting. I will try to see if I can get a hold of the author also, that would be really fun! :)

Went to Lidl today to do some shopping for my birthday party. I've just invited a few friends over, we will have cake and wine and candy. And singstar.
And, yay, at Lidl all the easter candy was at half price, so we got away with less money than what we had expected. I even had a little to spare so that I could pick up a few easter bunny decorations, bunnies on a stick to put in flower pots.
Oooh and they had all the typical German easter candy. I was bouncing around like an idiot when I saw the lady bug chocolates that I always kept for months and months when I got them as a kid. I kept them, of course, because we couldn't get them here in Norway, but my grandparents had to send us the candy from Germany. But now I CAN get them! Not that I really know how they taste anyway... I think I always saved them. In fact, even though we bought two packs of them, I dunno if I will be able to peel off the tin foil wrap and eat the chocolate. Ah, the horror! I can't eat them! Poor buggies!
I also bought some chocolate eggs with cherry liquor inside. They're for my mum, I'm making her an easter egg this year. She always fills eggs for everyone in the family, but never gets one herself. This year she will be getting one! :)

But I need to get to bed. Kinda woozy now...

Coroplast and walking miles.

Not that it's very interesting, but I ordered (finally) a sheet of coroplast today. It'll be here on wednesday, and I will start building my coroplast and cubes cage for the piggies right away. I can't wait! It'll be soo cool! And huge. Almost four times the space they have now. I will take photos, of course, so that you can see how it turns out.

Saturday I worked at the catering thingy. It was kind of interesting. I've served at private parties when I was younger, but nothing like this. Yikes, hectic much? Not a lot of time for breaks. Or even to sit down. In eight hours, the only time I sat down for a second was when I went to the loo. And even that was done in a hurry! *lol*
But it was fun. And there's something strangely satisfying with being physically exhausted when done with work (I got off at three in the morning/night). The payment is OK, but I wouldn't get much more than that anywhere else either. And I've worked for less before. So it's completely OK. And if I do get a steady job there, it will be very flexible, as in I will be able to fit it with my studies, and that's worth more than the wage. Oh, and not to mention the free exercise! I must have walked halfway from here to Oslo (a two hour drive).

ooo what else? Trying to come up with something to do for my birthday next weekend. I don't know what I want to do, not sure IF I want to do anything. I don't see the point anymore. It's just another day like the rest of them. Or maybe not, but I'm not as excited as I used to be when I was younger. I don't mind getting older, I'm not that old yet, but it's just... something that happens, like it's no biggie. The only thing I really want for my birthday, is flowers from my love. He never buys me flowers, mostly because I've told him it's silly to spend that much on something that withers away within a week. But I love having flowers in the apartment. I got some tulips when we held our NYE party, and I almost gave them names, that's how much I loved having them here. And I was truly sorry when I had to chuck them out.
I'm weird like that. I like to name inanimate objects, love believing they have a life of their own. I think I watched Jim Henson's christmas movie (with those toys that came alive when the humans left the room) a couple of times too much. Take my computer, I've named it Floppy. Or technically, this is Floppy the second, as Floppy the first died some years ago. And our car is another example. Pea. It's not even green, it's bright red. But it's still Pea. It's small and and doesn't always behave. And everyone knows peas don't behave, they're impossible to get on your fork.

And speaking of Pea, she had a little incident last friday. We had to go shop for a white shirt for me to work in, and decided to take the car as it was sleety and downright icky outside. Apparently Pea thought so too, and stopped as we were about to drive into a roundabout (well, not CRASH with it, but you get what I mean). Completely dead, no reaction from the engine. Oh shit... On with the emergency blinkers, run into the gas station conveniently next to where Pea stopped, get help pushing Pea into the gas stations' parking lot. Call Simon (car crazed friend). "Help! Pea stopped!"
Simon rushes over, brags about how old Fords like him and turns the key. Pea purrs like a cat. Silly car! She was seriously dead when love tried get her started again, but as soon as Simon was there, she was happy as a clam. Apparently old Fords do like Simon. We like Simon too, he knows how to fix cars. Especially old Fords like Pea. So yah... Simon said he'd have a look at her when the weather gets warmer. And I'm actually considering buying/borrowing at the library a book on car mechanics so that I can teach myself a little something on how to do the basic things, 'cause I suspect I will need it. Don't think I can do it? Bah... I can be handy some times, I swear! Logic in the maths sense of the word, no, but fixing things? Sure! Or, at least I need to believe I can, 'cause if I don't, then I certainly can't do anything.

Work? And absolutely work-out.

The norwegian writer Kjartan Fløgstad lectured at my college today. I went, of course, but maybe shouldn't have. I hadn't read the book he was talking about and not really interested in the issue, so... But I know others were, so it wasn't his fault. Hah.. :)

There was a very offensive catalog in my mailbox today. Clothes... but not ordinary clothes. Old lady /geezer clothes! Icky dresses with large flower patterns, jeans that goes all the way up underneath your armpits.. that kind of clothes. I take it as a personal insult! *grr*
(seriously exaggarating here, but I guess you get that).

There's a small possibility that I will have a part time job in a catering business shortly. One of love's students works there and said they needed more people, and will see if I can join them also. That would be perfect! We do need the extra cash. Maybe then we could order the coroplast for the piggie cage. And I could get the last cavity taken care of. It would be nice, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Anddd... Had my first encounter with aerobics/step today. Whoa! High paced, but really fun! And I managed to keep up most of the time, even though I thought I would pass out at times.. *lol*

Work work work the whole day long...

I'm still here. No exploding of head, luckily. Although I have no idea how to cope with the amount of work I now, out of basically nowhere have in front of me. I had a talk with the professor yesterday and told him how most of my class was in hysterics yesterday over it. Well, it's not much he can do about it, but he could move one of the novels we have to read as well to the week after the deadline for the paper. It's a bit insane to put three novels in three weeks in those three and a half weeks we have on the paper, if you ask me. And he wasn't even going to inform us of this paper until next week, leaving us with only two weeks on the paper.
I'm just really happy I don't have any kids. Most of the people in my class have kids and I don't see how they will manage all this. I mean, I have to throw my entire plan for the easter holidays, but at least it's just me that gets disappointed. And my friends who were going to come over for the week... bah.
But yes, will try to work very hard these two coming weeks and maybe I can take some days off anyway.

Recap

Weekend: there's three ways of getting to Oslo from here (love's family lives near Oslo, and we were visiting them this weekend). We can drive all the way around the fjord, that takes about 1,5 hour. We can drive halfway up, take the tunnel underneath the fjord and end up on the right side right away where his family lives, that takes about 1,5 hours. Or we can take the ferry from here across and drive up on the other, still correct side, that takes about 1 hour and 25 minutes.
No matter what we do, it still takes the same amount of time. But this weekend we decided to try the ferry, for the first time. It was fun! :D And it felt like it took much less time, due to the "get out of the car and walk around" break.
Ooh, and I got an early birthday gift from "In laws". Embossing equipment (for cards). The heater thingy is pink with glitter in it! No doubt that that is MY tool thing, not love's! :D

Monday: Wonderful weather. Yesterday was the first day the sun really felt warm. I even had this year's first outdoor ice cream, yay! And we made another classic short film at school... ahahaa! AND I have both the one from last week and this one streamed, so I guess I could show it if I wanted to. But it was so much fun yesterday!
AND we rocked the Monday Quiz! Fourth place! Yay! Dunno why, but suddenly we had half of love's class on our team (they're a small class), and actually people who contributed this time (unlike first time we went, where those we brought with us spent the time drawing on every piece of paper they found). It was very entertaining and ooooh! They picked our theme for next weeks quiz. Disney movies (my suggestion). Another YAY!

A not so yay is school... That analysis I've been struggling with for a month? Well, I'm done with that one, but now I'm supposed to to ANOTHER one, and not "just" a 5 - 10 page one like last time, but 10-15 pages. In TWO WEEKS! And in the meantime, also read one novel a week AND finish editing all the texts I've written this year for the presentation folder! Aiiii...

an entry

Bah... My head hasn't been in it's right place the last two days. It almost feels like I would have another "migraine" like that one a couple of weeks ago, so I'm a bit annoyed. It's not so bad that I can't get things done, but it's bad enough to make me unable to focus on doing anything. And ordinary pain killers doesn't help either, so.. bah... But I guess I could be far much worse off. I could be lying in bed, underneath my blankets and cursing the day I was born. I'm not.

The last week was so hectic, so it's been nice to just unwind at home. The cold front has disappeared also, it's just below freezing outside, and that I can handle. We even took Pea out for a drive yesterday, went grocery shopping at Lidl again. Found warm slippers and actually, nice underwear, yay!

Going to visit love's parents on saturday. It's his father's birthday and his brother's birthday the next weekend, so we'll have cake and gifts for them both. This time of year it's the big birthday season. My love last week, his father and brother, and me in two weeks. Don't have any plans yet for my birthday, but dunno if I will do anything big out of it.

But the screen is bugging me right now, I think I need to jump into bed. Just wanted to write an entry to show that I'm still around :)

*yawn* slow day

Because of the cold weather, I stayed indoors all day. Hey, as long as I don't have to be anywhere when it's that cold, I prefer not to go outside.
I took a long, hot shower and put on two layers of clothing. And lit up the fireplace, and kept that going almost all day. Now I've run out of wood and since Pea can't drive right now, I'll have to manage with the electric ovens we have. And blankets of course.

Anyway, didn't do much today. Slept in because I needed to, the last week was so hectic, today was the first day I could unwind. So that's what I did. Slept in, read a bit in bed, read a bit on the couch with blanket and a cup of soup, watched todays Gilmore Girls re-run (last episode of the second season).
Oh, and bathed the piggies for the last time with lice-be-gone stuff, so now they're bug free! yay! (at least I hope so)

Oooh and watched LOST. Interesting series, that one. We're at episode 6, I think, so if you're watching it, I don't want to know about it since you've probably seen more than I have. :P

Snow and really irritating weather gods!

I didn't mention this yesterday, but as I woke up and had a look out of the window, there was a little surprise waiting for me. Six inches of snow! And about -5 C (23F) outside. But we live by the coast and the air is very humid, adding another -5 C to how the temperature feels.
Well, today it's -10 C (14F), with the feel of -15 (5F). I always wrap myself up in blankets in the winter, but now I've pulled out the really thick ones. Eeek...! I am SO not going outside today! I know I am a norwegian and should be used to this, but I am only half norwegian, I'm excused!
I wonder what temperature my parents have today? They live further inland, and yesterday they had -18 (-0.4F). I read in the papers that all of Norway had temperatures below freezing tonight and that's something that only happens a few times a year. Røros had -38 (-36F) for example. Eww!
The worst thing about the snow and cold is not the snow and cold itself. I mean, I can dress up in ten layers of clothing and smear cold cream in my face and it would be bad, but not horrible. BUT Pea (our car) can't possibly be on the road when there's snow or ice there, our winter tyres are so bad... Not that I think Pea would start in these temperatures anyway.
But it sucks 'cause we're supposed to visit love's parents this weekend to celebrate both his brother and his father's birthdays. I mean, we CAN take the bus, but it's cheaper to drive Pea up. But if the snow doesn't melt in three days (very unlikely), we can't. arrrgh!

So, I will write some lines to the weather gods to ask them for milder weather. Like that will happen..

Funny book. R-rated.

Warning, some foul language, like that would stop you :P
The Sex Book. I got it on sale (Mammoth again) today, and am so amused. There's no photos or anything, just a few corny illustrations, but it's informative with tons of text and... besides the obvious stuff, it's filled with extremely funny quotes. I had no idea there were so many people that liked... weird stuff! Like this (I've translated these back into english from norwegian):

I've bought used shoes that I've had a lot of fun with. Since I don't have to return them, I fill them up with vaseline. Shaving foam is also fun. You just fill the shoe and dip you cock into it. Shoef*cker, 32
"A shoe fetishist may in the beginning be satisfied with looking at a stiletto heel shoe to be aroused, but after a while he will have the need to look, touch, smell and lick shoes and masturbate into them."

And, apparently there's money to be made on selling your dirty underwear. The dirtier, the higher the price. If it wasn't for the fact that I find this practice really gross, it would be easy money. Sure, maybe not so pleasant to leave the panties on for an extra day, but if the price doubled?
No, seriously, what's up with people? About the panties, apparently there's even vendor machines for those in Japan. Dirty panties vendor machines. Nice, huh?

But book is absolutely amusing.
Oooh another book I bought, Three Black Skirts is really fun too. It tells about everything a woman needs to know today, without being annoying like a lot of those books can be. It's actually really cute :)

Busy busy!

I meant to make an entry yesterday, but there was no time. I messed up a deadline and had to finish the piece in half a day. As in yesterday. Ick... But I managed, so I won't complain about it, other than it left me with no time for a blog entry.
Besides that, yesterday was a very fun day. We're doing a course on film making at school, and yesterday we made tiny short films ourselves, two and two teamed up. I, as usual, refused to be in FRONT of the camera, and therefore had to be behind it. I'm not the most steady camerawoman, I tell you. And it was our first time with a camera, so we made I think every beginners error there is. Especially making the different cuts seem seemless and not to mention logical. My person was walking all over the place! *lol* But it's seriously fun, and next week we'll do a longer short film, I can't wait! :D
The mammoth sales are over (books, don't ask why they call it mammoth). And all the "left over" books are at half the price of what the already insane mammoth prices are. So I used my last coins on books that were on my list that I couldn't afford at "full" mammoth price. I did, unfortunately not get all, but most of them. A gigantic, pretty Egypt book (lots of photos!), a book on elves and a couple more. Yay! :D In fact, going to have a peek in them now. Weeeee... Books!
