The Luuurve cruise.

To have something cheery, not just whiney in my blog, I've transferred the photos from our Copenhagen looove cruise onto my laptop.
This way I have a visual guide just as well as my written words.

First: Cabin

With bed, huge window, desk and bathroom. Big! At least compared to regular cabins. This one was a deluxe cabin. We spent some extra cash on it, but it was worth every øre.

Freebies:

The much anticipated heart ballon, fruit, chocolate and... champagne! Not just this little bottle, but apparently the cabin itself meant we got a big bottle of champagne when setting out to sea. So we netted a total of three bottles, and have no idea what to do with them (although I'm sure some of you have some suggestions).

Complimentary soap is always fun. As is an included mini bar. Weee!
Because of our fancy cabin, we went as VIP guests and had access to the VIP lounge (with refreshments, coffee and yummy stuff in general). We also had breakfast included, and that at the fancy restaurant, not the ordinary buffet one.

Fancy:
¨
Included was also a four course dinner. Here we are, dressed up for the occasion (the gourmet restaurant had a formal dress code). Oh, and my new glasses aren't loopy, it's just Love hugging me. And I always end up looking weird because I look like ass if I'm smiling, so... sorry! *lol*
Anyway, the dinner... Weird. Love did the meats menu, I the fish. I tasted scallops for the first time, and enjoyed the tartar one more than the cooked ones.
The menu was mostly in french and I remembered too late what foie gras was to warn Love. Nasty stuff, that. The rest was delicious though. The meal itself was an experience, but it brought to attention my lack in knowledge of etiquette. How would I know, I've never been to any fancy-schmancy restaurant before! It was very awkward, but we had fun anyway. Love had rabbit and quail (perhaps Cheney's?) for main course, and is worried what my sis will say when she hears about it.

Zoo:

Because we were in Copenhagen on a Sunday, all the shops were closed (except 7eleven, but we have those here also). So Love asked if we could go to the zoo, he wanted to see monkeys. He hadn't been in one since he was a kid, and got really excited when I agreed. These gibbons were the first animals we saw, and Love was happy as a clam.

My personal favorites were these guys, prairie dogs. Cute as buttons, squeaky and crazy. Oooh, and I patted a cow! Weeee!
We did walk around all day, both at the zoo and in the city. It was just above freezing, but sunny, so it wasn't that bad. It was a beautiful day and we couldn't have been luckier with the weather.

Suspect:

We came across this in the main shopping street. I dunno, I don't think I would buy sneakers from these people.

To sum it up, an amazing trip. Absolutely lovely break from the snow and ickyness here, and the two days felt more like a week.
Love also got me some beautiful Pilgrim jewellery on the ship, a butterfly ring with matching necklace (mine has off-white flowers).
Oh, another weird thing about the ship... When leaving port, they played some wacky trumpety fanfare, a la "and now for something completely different, a man with a recorder up his nose!".
Completely silly... But oh... want to go again, it was fun!

Greetings from Hoth!

*insert ten minutes of the rudes words you can think of here*

Someone warped something overnight. This isn't Norway, it's Siberia or Antarctica or some absurdely snowy planet, for instance Hoth (where some shots were actually filmed in Norway).

This is the same window as in previous photos. We've had 50cm of snow today, and will have another 50 tomorrow. And the wind is piling the snow up everywhere, so... oh hell...

And if the window doesn't say it all, look at this! I'm 5'7, Love is even taller. And that makes that edge...? Tall!

Because it was snowing so heavily and I had just received an SMS from a class mate who had the bus drive off the road, I asked Simon to first pick up Love and then me. Well, ordinary this is a five to ten minute ride with a car. Guess how long it took him today... An hour? Two? Nuh uh, THREE FRIKKIN HOURS!
This is his car, on his way home from letting us off. That little Toyota was simply... amazing. Everyone had problems getting around, not this little thing. Alright, some places the snow was so deep that I actually felt the floor bulge up underneath my feet, and it was one rattly ride, but whahey! Good car!

This is how Love and Simon spent those three hours stuck in one place, waiting for the traffic to get moving. Making snowmen! And yes, that's on top of the car. When they picked me up they had one fat fellow on the roof and two smaller ones on the hood. Apparently they got a lot of attention.

Yes, I know this is whiney, but come on, this is too freaky not to whine about. If you at all have the guts to go anywhere, you'll see cars strewn all around. Even if it's Norway, and even if we have more practice than, let's say Germany in driving on snow/ice/sludge. They've closed down certain roads because of arctic conditions, and we're not even a part of the arctic.
They also closed down downtown yesterday, because the police and ambulances couldn't get anywhere. I've never even heard of such a thing.

Oh goodness... I just want this absurd craziness to end. I have honestly never in my life seen anything like it, and just when I think it's as bad as it gets and I can't take any more, it gets worse!
Poo!

Movies, movies, movies - reviewed.

We've had somewhat of a movie extravaganza here this week. I haven't seen all of the movies I picked up yet, but I thought I'd tell you what I thought of the ones I've seen.

"Napoleon Dynamite"- Oh my... I'm not sure I got the point of it. It's a very quiet movie, slow progress and no big drama. But it had some funny points, and growing up in the 80s /90s there was plenty of recognizable stuff. But the über-geekyness of Napoleon got on my nerves.

"If these walls could talk 2" - The concept is three stories, one set in 1961, one in 1972 and one in 2000. The first one was about abortions (very good BTW), this one is about lesbians. But it's too stereotypical to say that, it's more stories of love than anything else. The first one is heart-breaking. An old woman is "widowed" and left with no rights when the love of her life dies.
The movie is worth seeing just for this story. I bawled like a baby and am still a bit upset over it.

"Kinsey" - I loved this! Though the conversations around that family's dinner table was a bit odd.

"The wedding date" - As a romantic comedy this wasn't that bad. I've seen worse. Debra Messing is adorable. I'm not much of a "Will & Grace" fan, but I loved her in this movie.
But it's a chick flick, so... yeah. For those tea and blanket moments.

"Hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy" - I was pleasantly surprised by this one. I've heard a lot about it, both negative and positive, but for me it had kept the absurdity the books have. Love laughed his a** off at the depressed Marvin, but to me it was a bit disturbing that it was Alan Rickman who did the voice of him. It was like "who the heck trapped Snape in that robot?".

"Dickie Roberts- Former child star" - David Spade. You know what you get. But it was funny enough. Devil rabbit, devil rabbit!

"Sin City" - Talk of hard boiled. Sheesh... Extremely masculine in the sense of big guns, shiny wheels and babes by the dozen. I'm not sure if I liked it or not. I don't like violent movies at all, I just can't seem to look at it as a "kill, it's a human being being slaughtered.
But it was visually beautiful, and I loved the way the story was told. Being handed everything on a silver platter is uninteresting, so movies like this is refreshing.

"The manchurian candidate" - Bah... They didn't quite get the thriller-part right here. When the 2 hour thriller first starts being thrilling after 1 hour and 20 minutes, something's wrong. Kill your darlings, cut away the dead meat, don't bore me. Ugh...

Fug!

I'm old! *horror shock jaw to the floor*
I got an invitation to a school reunion. As in 10 years since we pestered you at elementary school reunion.
Bah... First off I feel oddly old. I'm not old enough for reunions! Second... wtf? Do we really want to see each other again? I don't really feel like seeing any of my old class mates again. Kids are evil, I have few happy memories from those six years. Not that I was that much bugged, but there isn't one single person from my old class that I've missed. Not seing the point of going then, really.
And there's a reason why I moved away from that pit of dullness. It's... dull! And it belongs to a different me, a different time.
Ugh...

Wants!

Working at a gas station is dangerous. For my wallet, that is. We have these cool veteran market magazines.
Look what I found yesterday. A 1966 VW Transporter. I'd love to have one of these. Never mind the fact that I can't even chance a tyre, I want one!
My parents had one when they first got together, and as dad likes to tell me, I was made in one.
Too much information, no shit.
But it doesn't change the fact that the transporter kicks ass.

Those veteran market mags are too full of temptations... For a girl who loves the 50s - 60s car designs. Help... For instance this Cadillac De Ville. Now if that had been a cab with black/white cow print interiour I would have been in serious trouble.

Movies, movies, movies!

Our local video store sells out the less popular titles every three months or so. This time they did so dirt cheap. Usually we pay 59kr for one (about 8,50 $), but today you could buy ten for 300kr (44$) in total. So of course we went berserkus ;)

I bought these titles:
"Napoleon Dynamite" - Well, the dude on the cover looked weird. I just wanna see it.
"House of wax" - Simply to see someone off you know who.
"If these walls could talk 2" - I've seen the first one and loved it. Hoping this one will be good too.
"Kinsey" - Been wanting to see this one forever.
"The wedding date" - Something romantic for those blanket/tea/jammies moment.
"Hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy" - Still haven't seen this, and that's a shame!
"Garden State" - Heard so much about it, mostly good stuff. Curious!
"The Interpreter" - Saw the trailer for it, seems like a movie worth seeing.
"Dickie Roberts- Former child star" - I'm hoping this is dead silly and I'll love it. If not, I know who to give it to.
"Sin City" - Bah... Still haven't seen this one, but Love says he thinks I'll love it.
"De-Lovely" -Trailer got me hooked, been wanting to see this ever since.
"War of the worlds" - The only one of the movies I've actually seen. Great popcorn entertainment, and kick ass sound design.
"21 grams" - This also seems like my type of movie.
"Salem's lot" - Probably one shitty movie, but it's based on one of my favorite Stephen King books (at least it was when I read it at 14)
"The manchurian candidate" - I'm not really the thriller-loving girl, but this seems like an intelligent one.

Oh goodness... That's a lot of titles. But the whole sell out thing at our video store, that's the one reason for our large collection of dvds. I'd say more than two thirds of my movies are bought at one of those sales. And sheesh, 30kr for one movie? I can't even rent one that cheap!

But I have to work this weekend. So no vegging out in front of the telly for me. Boohoo...

Winter celebration.

To celebrate the another half a meter snow that's supposed to come down this week, I've wintered up my blog. It's very temporary I assure you, but the sunflower just pisses me off when there's no sun *lol*
So I hope you enjoy this cold design, 'cause I'm such an html-idiot I struggled for hours with it.

On another note, while I still have daylight being able to enter through only half-snowed-shut windows, Love had a wonderful valentines day gift for me yesterday.
I have no proper name for it in english, in norwegian it's "dynetøfler". Perhaps "bed socks" will work. It's chubby warm socks to wear in bed so that poor boyfriends don't have to be terrified of getting near ice cube feet.

I got him The Ugly Book. We both love the Andrew Davies books, and his The Blue Day Book is one I've bought for several people as gifts.
Love also got a Teddy Bigfoot because I'm a sucker for weird bigfooted thingies. Besides, it was deadly cute anyway.

Brrr... Damn cold.

Arr matey!

My pirate name is:

Captain Charity Bonney

Even though there's no legal rank on a pirate ship, everyone recognizes you're the one in charge. You can be a little bit unpredictable, but a pirate's life is far from full of certainties, so that fits in pretty well. Arr!

Piggy piggies!

All this snow is depressing, so while I'm at it, why not show you some piggie photos also?

Here, finally (only about a year since I built it!) is the new piggie paradise.

Side view of piggie paradise.

And this is the result of taking our beloved babies to the photographer. Neat, huh?

Oh the joys of winter.

Decided to test the digital camera inlaws donated to us (they bought a new one) and here's more snowy fun for you!

This is the same window as before. Nasty, huh?

This is the view from our kitchen window (one of the large windows)

This is the entrance, well, when going out that is.

Just to get some sort of scale on this. All of this snow came down during the last three days.

Holy cow, Batman! We need GPS to locate the Batcave!
(see that tiny black hole on the right? That's what we try to keep snow free so that we can actually get outside)

This is actually... our driveway (the front) and landlady's stairs

Snow. An effing visual.

The amounts of snow out here now is absolutely absurd. In fact, we have no more spaces to shovel it to, that's how much it is. And it's f*cking not stopping! I'll see if I can bring a camera outside and take some proper photos for you, because this is too much even for us wegies. I have never in my life seen so much snow besides in photos from the arctic and that one drive over the mountains during summer when I was a kid. But here? Never, ever.
I swear, every day I have to venture outside is a "what the fuck?" moment. Constantly.
I'll be looking in one direction and think "what the f?" and turn around and be even more overwhelmed. Ugh... I hate snow.

But now, a photo visual. These are all taken from the same angle out one of our smaller windows.

Yes, snowy here. About 20cm. This was the first one I took, wanting to show you how much it had snowed. Oh how little did I know that the next day it would look like...

This!

And if this isn't bad enough...

This is what it looked like yesterday.

That big bulk in front is the thigh high layer of snow. Oh joy... I'm not going out there to dig out my windows.

Someone's pulling our legs. This isn't normal!

Karla, FoFuSa, Jellomonster and Catgirl, talking to you here! Muhahahaa.. Arrrr! (M, you can do it too if you want, but I feel it's too evil to curse you with gnomes considering your recent visit to the evil dentist. that's evil enough! ;) )
