Where's Bob the Builder when you need him?
Love and I have been to see a couple of apartments. We're not buying yet, but we like to pay attention and also get an idea of what we can afford and expect.
Yesterday we had a private viewing of an apartment that looked great online, but worn and tattered in real life. In some ways I'm disappointed, but also relieved because if it had been THE dream apartment, we would see someone else snap it away in front of us. Speaking of which, that other place we looked at in May is still available. The marked has been really slow all summer, and I'm kicking my ass so hard for not having a steady job now, because we could have gotten a really sweet deal on a place.
IF we could decide on one, that is... earlier this week we viewed an old apartment where practically everything would have to be repaired, refurbished or painted, but both Love and I could see it for what it could become. That's actually a first, that we both saw possibilities instead of a dump. No, it really wasn't a dump, but needed a new bathroom and it had a gigantic attic that would be absolutely amazing as a living room if insulated and decorated.
But then again, how would we do that? I can manage to paint a wall, sure, but as soon as there's nails involved, I'm out. And Love? I love him to pieces, but I did put up the curtain poles myself you know...
Then there's the little fact that both Love and I are easily excited and when that happens, logic usually pours out of our ears and all that remains is rosy fluff and uselessness.
Logic tells me that the old apartment would be too expensive and has too many possible hidden problems (ie: I smell "The Money Pit"). The pink fluff shows me a huge room with high ceilings, pretty rafters, funky windows and a huge christmas tree in the middle with the entire family gathered around it. Seriously, how's logic going to battle with christmas? Presents? All over the place? Nah...
Oh, and the fun has no end, actually. This weekend we'll be viewing a pretty little house with a wild garden and did I mention it's a 1880s house that's completely refurbished and modernized, but has kept the original feel to it? If it is half as good as the photos look, I fear I'll fall completely. Current worries: it's a tad bit small. Not for the two of us, but if we decide to reproduce, it might be. But we'll see. *bouncing excitedly*
And now over to something completely... a man with a recorder up his nose!
No, not really. But close. I realized I never showed you any photos from the medieval festival!

This is Sir Rudolph. He kicked ass! Or, he didn't really in the tournament, but he took the time to talk with us and answer the pile of questions Love asked him about his armour.

There was of course also archers. BTW, all these photos (more in my Deviant gallery) were taken with my new LX2. Pretty, pretty little camera!

They jousted with sticks, not poles. Not quite as action-packed as "A Knight's Tale", I must admit.
Meh. Must get ready for work. So tired of it now...
