Shopping frenzy

Last weekend we went for a mini break to Gothenburg, to get all the gift shopping done by December (when I work longer hours and have no time for such business).

Shopping in Sweden is fun. Because of the differences in the value of Norwegian and Swedish kroners, it was like shopping with everything 20% off.
That international day of not buying anything that was last friday? I think I blew that one. I started off pretty eagerly by actually buying my WEDDING DRESS! I found it in just an hour and it's perfect. Simple, elegant, but beautiful and makes me look amazing. Best part? It was very inexpensive compared to the others I've tried. In fact, it cost less than it does to rent one here in Norway, and that's simply marvelous. It has no train (whew!) though, because every time I put on a dress with a train, I start chasing my tail and act like a confused dog. So no train. No excess decorations either, just a perfect fit and a beautiful ivory tone.

Because we were late with ordering our trip, the only rooms available was at a very posh hotel (SAS Radisson) in business class. Marble bathroom, free hotel TV (BTW, p*rn is soooo overrated. Extreme close up of dangling balls? Sheesh... who can get it on to that?), sleek Scandinavian elegance with pure lines and different shades of wood. Top floor, lovely view to hotel atrium. Is nice!

We nearly didn't get there. All thursday night I was puking while chained to the toilet, but friday morning I was fine. Was fine all weekend as well, but now I'm sick again with a fever. But it's a crisis at work, so I down some pills and grit my teeth. Hopefully it's better tomorrow.

Anyway, we did get to buy most of our presents last weekend. Only two gifts left now. That's very satisfying. But it feels very decadent to spend so much money at once. Don't think I've ever done that before...

Let me show you!

Here comes a big photo entry. I'm too lazy to make thumbnails and a separate photo page, so bear with me please.

First. Pretty view!

See? Ocean! Not much of it, but you can still see it! Yay!

Kitchen. Style: kick-ass!

Other side. Including the o heavenly dishwasher.

Living room, with balcony and large sliding glass doors behind the sofa.

View from the other side of the living room

My purty window sills! I love, love, love them!

The window in the last photo and this one are the two you can see in the living room.

Fireplace is very nice too... Although I currently suck at getting a fire going there. That's nothing new, really... I never got the hang of it in the old apartment either. But on the left side of the fireplace is the room we use as an "office" and on the right is the fab kitchen.

"Office". Please note the beautiful little faerie hutch made by Miss M at PhoenixFire Designs
You can see it close up here, and it's absolutely gorgeous!

That's all, folks. At least for now. Tomorrow isn't a good day for us. Our oldest piggy hasn't eaten by his own for a month now, due to teeth problems we can't seem to fix, so he will most likely have to be put to sleep tomorrow at the vet's. I have one final straw I cling onto, but I don't know if it''ll work. We'll see... one thing is certain, it sucks. I feel so bad for him, but at the same time he's had a long happy piggy life.. Meh.

Blogging from new digs!

Right now the sun is rising and I have full view of it from the living room of our new apartment. We even have a bit of ocean view, if you look carefully between the rooftops and trees in the horizon ;)
It's so lovely actually seeing what it's like outside, especially these crisp, beautiful autumn mornings.

The move went as painless as it could, I guess. But damn, we worked one whole week before it looked presentable here. Of course, having to go to work doesn't make it go any faster. But now curtains are up, furniture is in its place, floor is waxed... It looks great! And having a dishwasher is pure bliss... :)

And lots of kids were at our door yesterday. I'm surprised, I didn't know trick or treat'ing was so popular here. It's not really a tradition that's been around here, only the last couple of years. I remember sooo wanting to dress up for Halloween when I was younger, but it wasn't something that was done here.
But yesterday I donned my priestess dress and handed out candy to all the rascals who knocked our door. Even got some exercise, running up and down those stairs all the time.
