The life of Kjersti and general rants.

I thought that only happened in the movies...

We have a part time kitty.
Well, it's not ours, it's our neighbours and it only comes to visit when it gets stuck on our veranda and can't get down. It's a curious, up-to-no-good kitty who loves to climb stuff, but sucks at getting down again.

So when I see a huge fire ladder truck up our driveway when coming home from work, I don't panic. Turns out kitty had spent two days up in our neighbour's tree.
Getting the kitty down wasn't all that easy either, it was terrified and not at all interested in being plucked down by a stranger. But somehow the fireman snagged her and got her down safely.
Phew!
But somehow I don't think kitty is allowed outside for some time now.

Don't panic!

I'm a very non-existent blogger nowadays, the reason being very simple. My online time has shrunk to about 30 minutes of reading the news before going to work. When I get home, there's dinner, dishes, shopping, wedding planning and generally 'lapsing on the couch just trying to unwind and regain my breath.
Who knew working full time would leave me with so little free time? ;)
Still working every second Saturday makes sure I have every weekend planned at least a month ahead, in order to get everything done, and it's sometimes relaxing just to get back to work on Monday.

Planning a wedding turns out to be a little more hassle than just booking the venue and ordering my wedding dress also. Sure, the venue, church and dress is in place, but photographer, catering, entertainment and not to mention the invitations that are supposed to go out by the end of this month are not. Eeek! I have to design a card that's simple to make, but looks good, and then I have to mass produce it. And to keep in mind that the card should keep in design with the rest of our wedding theme, which we haven't really figured out yet.
So I'm making an executive decision here and saying ivy is our theme. It's sort of magical forest-y and I love the color.

Another who knew... that planning a wedding is such an emotional strain on everyone. So many worries, so many opinions and lack of opinions (my future mother in law vs my mother who rather than voicing an opinion waits for instructions on what to do). We've had some emergency meetings where we actually had to say "dude, about having tacos for dinner, that was a joke, ok? No worries, we order beefs" (another thing, spending too much time on icanhascheezburger.com ruins your grammar).
So many details... there are too many pretty flowers, how can I choose one? And all the money it'll cost to do all this! Eeek, what have we gotten ourselves into?
And how do you choose a china that you'll still love in 30 years, and why should we choose a china at all when we can buy it cheap at IKEA where it doesn't matter if we break it because we can always buy a new complete set for the same price as one dish of the fancy china? Huh?

But then again... petty problems. We're fine. A bit stressed out, but we're completely fine. The apartment is still lovely, the sun has returned, we pay less taxes because of the mortgage and in general we have enough money to pay our bills and save some for the wedding. It won't be an over the top thing, but we will have a three course meal and a band and everything will be proper. I shouldn't be complaining, our lives are finally on track and I have much less worries now than a year ago. But stress? oh yes...
