Things that frightens a puppy

- Seagulls: they're evil and loud

- Sudden darkness: walking through a tunnel is apparently very dangerous

- Cell phones: evil

We're babysitting a puppy for two weeks. It belongs to my brother, who's on holiday. Someone else was supposed to take care of him, but became ill, so we had to step in.

Max is very cute, but too energetic, too eager to put everything in his mouth and too attention-craving to be a pleasure to have here. I'm dog-tired (pun intended) already, and that's after having him for two days.

I'm the new boss, and Hubby is just an annoying side-kick to him also, so he behaves perfectly when I walk him, but won't listen to Hubby.

My happiest moment yesterday was when Max fell asleep and we were able to watch a movie without having to look after him.

I'm sure we'll get into the groove soon, but so far it's very tiring.

Random thoughts

Joining a friend who volunteers at a rescue center for cats today. Not such a bright idea considering how much I want a cat, and how opposed to it Hubby is. He says they scratch stuff, knock stuff over and generally leave you with shag carpet all over the place, even where there's originally wooden flooring.
Well? I still want a cat. And it's higher up on the scale than an aardvark or hairy grub or any other animal I've been wanting.

Summer solstice today. Not as fun as winter solstice. Especially not now that I have to get up at 4.30 to get to work.

I don't get any days off this summer because I just started a new job. Which sucks... I'm dog tired from the whole wedding business and every single weekend ahead is filled up with activities. Nice ones, like the wedding we went to last weekend, but still... No time for just lazying around. I need my down-time. One week off would be enough for me to unwind and also manage to get the apartment in order. Seriously, the last thing I want to do when I do have some hours free time, is cleaning and tidying.
Well... honestly, cleaning and tidying IS the last thing I want to do regardless of the amount of free time I have, just between you and me.

The said kitty friend is coming home with me today after we've visited the cats. She's one of my new colleagues and having a female colleague prooves to be a bad influence.
She has a thing for purses and bags. I have a thing for shoes. Coincidentally, some shops sell both these categories of items. I've never really been that much of a girlie shopper, but now I find myself wanting more purses and bags, and also even shoes.

But I've spent all my money for a while now anyway, so I'll join her while she shops this weekend. Maybe we'll take our cameras with us and take photos instead. That could save me the money I don't have.

Today it's been exactly four weeks since Hubby and my wedding.
Time flies, huh?
I'm a bit more used to the ring now, but am still mesmerized when I look at it. Very warm and fuzzy feeling, a bit like cocoa. Is nice!
And still I haven't gotten around to getting started on all the photos. 1700 in total, actually, so it is a woolly mammoth task to sort and make photo albums.

Snap snap!

Apparently, snapping my fingers makes stuff happen.

Last week, we went on a whim to see a car dealer. They were offering a nice sum for trade in cars, disregarding its condition (as long as it was EU approved and rolling by it's own machine), so we thought we'd have a look to see if they had anything of interest to us.

They did!

We now have a 2005 silver Ford Focus!

A diesel car to boot, that's a first. We had two options, one diesel and one gasoline that was a Ghia (as in, more comfy and more silly stuff you don't need such as a cooled glove department). The diesel had a couple thousand more miles to it, but was significantly cheaper.

Hubby almost had a cow when I suggested the diesel car would be the best option.
He's very very anti-diesel, has always been.

But it was a very simple choice when we tried both. The diesel was much more feisty, and that's of course equally much more fun.

So... there it is. We now have a new car.

Which coincidentally is exactly the car we wanted, but couldn't afford, when we got the Poshmobile. Is nice!

I do feel bad for the Poshmobile though... It was very strange, leaving for work yesterday and seeing her in the driveway for the last time. I had to walk over and pat her before leaving, I do admit.

Oh well... New car is nice! :)

Need

The Poshmobile is not behaving.

Not that she's ever been behaving, but lately it's getting on my nerves big time.
That's what I get for buying a Rover, I suppose. All the strange sounds, smells and not to mention a car that rusts if you look at it.

A lesson learned: never buy a car just because the emblem is cool. I mean, sure, it's a viking ship in gold on a burgundy background, it's gorgeous, but it doesn't do jack when the rest of the car is poo.

So now we're looking into buying a new car. And we're back on the "ooooo it's so puuurty" wagon.

Watch this space for updates. In two years time there'll probably be a post about how *insert silly new car name her* is misbehaving and I want to chuck it.

Married life

Married life isn't bad. Or, it's exactly as unmarried life to be exact. Except there's a ring on my finger. Which isn't strange either, as I usually wear rings. But it's still something I have to get used to. My hand looks very unfamiliar, very... huh? what happened?

We reviewed the photos from the photographer this wednesday. Oh man... They were so pretty! I'm extremely uncomfortable in front of a camera (the reason probably, why I enjoy myself so much behind one), and not one that photographs well, but he had managed some stunning shots.

It's the same photographer that did the ones of our piggies, so we kinda knew he was good (and that's why I called him in the first place). But that good? We ended up buying the rights for the best shots. Otherwise we would have to order copies through him, and for a photo freak like me that would be intolerable. I mean, if it was just one shot that turned out fine, it wouldn't have been a problem, but a whole bunch? Yeah.

I'm still nagging mum to send me her photos. So far only Hubby's sister and our friend who was the paparazzi of the day has given us photos, and I want to see all of them before I decide on which ones to order and stuff.

Sorry, babbling today. At work I have to be short and precise in everything I write, so it's nice not to worry about being coherent.

Sure, coherency is needed, but I can be a bit more wordy and not put off the toughest of you.

Work is fun, by the way. The project I was hired to work on, is up and running now and suddenly I have tons and tons of work to do. But all good. It's challenging, but so far I'm on that "I can do this!" high, and enjoying myself thoroughly.
