Opening bids

Pass = 12-16hcp. 1C = 9-11NT or 17hcp+. 1D = 0-7(8 bal.)hcp. 1H/S = 8-11hcp, 5 card+. 1NT = 8-11hcp, 5-4+ in minors. 2C/D = 8-11hcp, 5card+. 2H = 3-7hcp, weak two in either H or S. 2S = 3-7hcp, 5-5 in reds or blacks. 2NT = 20-21 NT. 3NT = Solid minor suit. 3/4X = Preemptive.

Opening Pass

Pass = No wish to bid! 1C = 8hcp+ without any of the hands described below. 1D = 5-7(8)hcp without 5 card major. 1H/S = 4-8hcp, 5 card+ 1NT = 8-11hcp, 6+ clubs. 2C = 8-11hcp, 6+ diamonds. 2D = 8-11hcp, 6+ hearts. 2H = 8-11hcp, 6+ spades. 2S = 8-11hcp, 5-5 in minors. 2NT = 13-15NT. 3X = Natural GF. 3NT = 16-17hcp, 3-3-(4-3).

Further bidding:

After Pass - 1C most of the opening schema for CLONE is used. Pass - 1C 1D = 12-13NT, or natural with 4+ diamonds. 1H/S = 12-14hcp, 5 card+. 1NT = 14-16NT 2C = Natural with 5 card+. 2D/H/S = 15-16hcp, 6 card +. Pass - 1D = Natural, searching best part score. Pass - 1M = Part score bidding, but 2NT from opener shows 4 card support and maximum. Pass - TR = To play if opener accept transfer. 2NT is at least inv. with support. Opener bids singleton/void or own suit. Pass - 2S = 2NT shows invitational values with (at least) one 4 card minor. 3C/D is for play. Pass - 2NT = Stayman and transfers

Opening 1D

1D shows 0-7hcp, or 8hcp bal. Responses: pass = Long diamonds. 1H/S = 3+ suit, non-forcing, opener should pass with 3+ cards. 1NT = "Dynamic NT", 19hcp+(with unbalanced hand may be less) F1. 2C/D = Natural, non-forcing. 2H/S = Preemptive. 2NT = 20-22hcp, balanced. 3X = Preemptive. After "Dynamic NT" 1D - 1NT 2C = Negative 0-4hcp, any distr. 2D = 5-8hcp, 4/5 hearts. 2H = 5-8hcp, 4/5 spades. 2S = 5-7hcp, unbalanced, without 4 major. 2NT = 5-8hcp, balanced, without 4 major. 3X = 5-7hcp, 6+L. 3NT = 5-7hcp, 5-5(+) minors. 1D - 1NT 2C 2D = GF, any distribution. others = Natural, non-forcing. After double (very important!) pass = 3+ diamonds, no other 5+ suit. redoubl = a) SOS. I haven't got 3 diamonds and any 5+ suit. b) 17(18)+ HCP, any distribution. 1H = a) 5+hearts b) may be artificial with 4S-4C or 5C-3S, After next double: pass = I've got hearts! redoubl = 5C-3S 1S = 4S-4C 1S = Natural, 5+ suit, eventually bluff with long hearts. 1NT = 5-5(+) any suits. 2X = Natural, preemptive. After overcall: new suit = Natural, non-forcing. double = Negative 15(14)+ or 18+ any distribution. 1NT = 16-19 balanced, with stopper. cue-bid = Michaels. jump in NT = 5-5(+) lowest suits. One example: 1D - 1H pass = No comments. 1S = 4-7, 4+. 1NT = 5-8, without 4 major, balanced. 2C/D = 5-7, 5+L. 2H = 5-8, 4H. 2S/3C/D = 5+ and 4H, 5-8. 2NT = 5H, 5-7, any singleton/void. 3H = 5H, 5-8, without singleton. Note! After double all further redoubles are SOS. After "Dynamic NT" all responses except 2C are game forcing. Redouble SOS you bid with 0-16 strength!

1NT - 2C = Relay. 2D/H/S = To play. 2NT = Invitational. 3/4m = Preemptive. 3M = Invitational with own good suit. 3NT/4M = To play. 1NT - 2C 2D = Non-descriptive. Further 2M is inv., and 2NT search for 5card minor. 2M = 3 card. Further 2NT search for 5card minor. 2NT = 5-5 3m = At least DJxxxx Responders 3m after 2C is NF. 3H/S (even 'raise') is natural GF.

2D - 2H = relay. 2S = Natural, NF. 2NT = Transfer to 3D. Contains i.a. the NF hand with hearts. 3C = Natural, not forcing. 3D = Invitational. 3H/S = 6+, GF. 3NT = To play. 4new = Void, diamond support. 4NT = RCBK 5D = To play. 2D - 2H 2S = Nat. 2NT = Maximum. 3C = 4 card heart. 3D = Minimum. 2D - 2NT 3D - Pass = Preemptive style. 3H = Natural, not forcing. 3S = Spades + Clubs (5-5)+, GF. 3NT = Both major (5-5)+, GF. 4C = Hearts + Clubs (5-5)+, GF. 4H/S = Singleton, slamint. with diamond support.

2H - 2S = Pass or correct (P/C). 2NT = Relay. 3m = Natural, F1. 3H = P/C. 3S = Natural, F1. 4H = P/C. 2H - 2NT 3C = Hearts, maximum. 3D = Spades, maximum. 3H = Hearts, minimum. 3S = Spades, minimum.
