Background:
- I was employed in 1987 to 2003 by Riksbibliotetjenesten (RBT)
and worked at Infosøk
- The Department for Information and Retrieval at the NTNU Library - the University
Library in
Trondheim. My was position was leader of the Norsk DIANE Senter
which was Norwegian national information center for users of electronic
information. DIANE stands for "Direct Information Access Network for
Europe". It was the Norwegian part of a EU funded project and was in
Norway a coöperation between RBT and the NTNU Library. The
object of the DIANE center was to help users better utilize
electronic information. We gave advice, training courses, seminars and
lectures. It is mostly based of the experiences the staff at
Infosøk have gained since they first started retrieving
information from online databases, back in 1971. (We are talking real
old timers here!!)
- Riksbibliotektjenesten
was from the first of January 2003 merged with others institutions into
ABM-Utvikling, the Norwegian Archive, Library and Museum Authority.
From that date the DIANE Center was officially ended. I now work at the
NTNU Library at the branch library for architecture, civil
engineering and product design.
- I also try to keep up with what is happening in the internet,
especially concerning search engines and portals and also
evaluating quality of web information and how to utilise the invisible
web. I give seminars and talks on web searching and evaluation of web
information and any other topics that interests me and people want to
listen to.
- I am member of the Sør
Trøndelag branch of the Norwegian Library
Association, of the Norwegian Online
Users Group (NOLUG) and of the Norwegian
Association of Special Libraries (NFF).
- I am a member of some mailing lists, the most important ones are
the Norwegian library
lists
from the National Library and the international lists Project Wombat (formerly
known as Stumpers) and Web4Lib.
