The moddir mode |
|||||||||||||||||
|
When you are editing files for, say a new scenario, it will be a good idea if these changes wouldn't affect your existing scenarios. With this in mind the 1.05 patch introduces a moddir mode, where an option added at startup points to a directory with the modified files. Within this moddir you place your files in the same directory structure as the regular EU2 directories. In this example I have added modified versions some files to a folder named mod_test. I have a new text.csv in mod_test\config, new country.csv and new leader- and monarch files to mod_test\db\leaders and mod_test\db\monarchs:
To use these files I create a new desktop shortcut. First I copy the EU2 shortcut and rename it "EU2 mymod":
Then I right-click this, select properties and add the command-line option:
That's it! By using this shortcut EU2 will load the files in the mod_test directory if available, and if the files aren't there it will use the regular files in the EU2 directory. Changes to moddir in 1.06:The most important change is that the location of the scenario files (and thus, also the savegames) i schanged. Whereas these files were located in the regular scenarios folder of your EU2 installation, the 1.06 version has changed this. To use the moddir you will need to create a "Scenarios" folder in your moddir path. You must also create a "Save games" folder in the Scenarios folder to take care of saves. In 1.05 there were several issues with files not loading properly from the moddir, like province.csv, land.csv etc. These should be fixed now in 1.06. Known problems/issues:When you have spaces in the path names, the default is to enclose the path in "s. Note that the moddir path following the path to the EU2 man folder must be without the "s. |
