A very untypical Bergen player, Borchgrevink never play 1.e4 and is much more eager for the opponents pawns than for his king. He is always willing to give up a promising attack for defending with a pawn more, but will then do it in a very creative manner.
With his openings still going better, Borchgrevink will probably soon overcome his two traditional problems : How to defeat much weaker player, and how not to be crushed by the markedly better. Doing still better in his international tournaments last season, soon for him might very well be now. Always though against himself, Borchgrevink is probably the Norwegian here hating most to lose any game of chess.
