FM STIG GABRIELSEN:

Probably the next IM from Bergen. It may still a long road to walk for achieving the title, but after starting his career as a respectful and silent younger brother, Stig now undoubtly is the chess master of his family. His career has been without the big bangs, but his slow improvements still seems to continue - after finally stabilizing above 2200 as a junior, he has now almost certain crossed the 2300-mark to stay. Stig has been close to an IM-norm several times the later years.
Undoubtly he is of IM-strength when attacking, but so far he has neither been when defending or in endgames. This seems somewhat better now than earlier year, and then he is a serious IM-candidate in this and every other tournament. According to rumours, Stig is now also closer to getting rid of "the main enemy of his career", better known as 1.d4.
