| C1848 is one of two bright emission nebulas nicknamed Heart
(IC1805) and Soul (IC1848). Both nebulas shine brightly in the red
light of energized hydrogen and you can see many open clusters of
stars within them making this a prime object for astro photo
enthusiasts. Distance is aprox. 6000 light years. For this picture I
used a Ha-filter in some exposures to enhance contrast and pick up
more of the nebula. Optics and mount: Takahashi FSQ106ED f/3.6 on Takahashi Em-200 Camera: Baader Canon 350D. Guided with MiniBorg 60ED and DSI pro II. Exposures: 27 x 300 sec. + 11 x 600 sec. with Ha-filter. Both in ISO800 Software: DSLR focus, Maxim DL (Guiding), Photoshop CS2. Date: 05.11 and 16.11.2008 |
